Graffiti

I was passing my local community centre earlier today and a few kids were doing it up shall we say. It's still a work in progress as the the picture only shows half the side of the building but I was impressed with what they've done so far.
The 7 Sisters in the pic refers to the village I live in.

Just Graffiti or Art Crime? Depends on your point of view! Its as old as the human race!

TBH I've seen some stunning examples on my travels, some of these kids/adults are losing the plot and really should be directing there talents (as thats what it is imo) in other directions.

Nice example mate.

mindless yobs

only kidding, when graffiti art is done properly it is great,
There is a shopping mall in crawley where a so called artist has tried to capture the spirit of tyhe town, frankly it is crap, they would have done much better to get a few graff artists in and let them go to work,it would of looked much better

I have some old photos of amazing graffiti from the inside of an old warehouse - the inside was used by skaters (roof had been taken off).

Used it as the cover of a CD - first problem was that the local Virgin Megastore wanted the japanese characters translated before they would stock it and then my mate who had published the CD got some death threats for "stealing" their artwork.

The kids are doing this with the full backing of the community council. I was just talking to my neighbour about this and he said that some London based graffiti artist has been helping them with the design. As long as it's tasteful and appropriate then I'm all for it. Certainly brightens up what otherwise would have been a plain old building.
