Shutter Life

I've just found out that the 350d only has a shutter life of 50,000 shots!!!!!!!

I've only had the camera a month and I've taken nearly 3000. This is the first i've heard about it and I am horrified

. Will I have to junk the camera in a year? Can I get the shutter replaced, how much does it cost and is it covered in my Jessops extended warranty?

Please someone help!!

3000 in a month sounds definatley like you are loving the novelty value

I can't vouch for your Photo methods or the quality of your pictures but if you are new to the whole DSLR thing then I can understand it, its the best but you will settle down and become more objective as to what when and how much you shoot a subject.
Don't sweat it I have camera's almost 30yrs old that are still going strong

By the time you get anywhere close to 50,000 shots I'm pretty sure that Canon will have developed something far more attractive. With the DSLR market as it is at the moment, technology will be moving faster than the life cycle of your average camera.

Hope so, as i'm in a similar situation, 4 months in & 2500 shots later.

At the rate your going, you have another 5 years and 8 months left to save up for a replacement

I think that anyone who is serious about photography would upgrade the 350D well before reaching 50,000 shots. As was stated earlier, technology moves so fast that something much better is only round the corner.

Can you not just replace the shutter via Canon???

Me, I will be looking at the 5D later in the year I think.

I think only in the 1 series that the shutter is a part that is designed to be serviced. It would probably cost more to get Canon to replace it than it would be to buy a new one by the time it fails....
