Have you looked on the CDs that came with the camera? I'm pretty sure there are PDF versions on there.

I've got the Ixus 50. It's an excellent camera. Great pics, long battery life and very easy to use. As far as I know, the 55 is the same except it has a larger screen.

I think that Canon manuals are available from their Australian website in PDF format - I got on my MV6i even though the UK site wanted money !!
