importing lenses from the US?

I'll probably buy the body from the UK as prices aren't *that* different, and I'd want an easy return/warranty.

But lenses seem a fair bit cheaper - eg B&H in the US. Anybody import? any issues to consider?

B&H is excellent, but don't usually like to ship overseas or accept foreign credit cards. I have always used friends who live there to buy for me and send it over with someone who is visiting. They are the best place to buy camera stuff bar none.

strange. I checked their website and they have shipping options for all the countries in the world (took a while to find us though, we are under 'england' not UK)

remember you will have to pay VAT ontop of the price plus any duty or excise which is due unless you convince the company to commit a criminal offence and state it is a "gift". All taxes are charged on the total price (including any postage or insurance etc)

If I were looking to import then I'd be inclined to use Onestop-Digital who ship out of Hongkong and who's prices are VAT free" guaranteed!

Richard you don't mention which make of Camera/Lenses you are looking to buy but if its Canon then I'll also mention a guy by the name of Kerso who has an ebay shop but also sells alot to the guys over at the Photography-on-the-net (Canon Forums), never used him personally but I know the likes of seany, Johndm and condyk who also post on here have and who have found his prices and service second to none!
