Photography Courses

Happy Christmas to anyone reading this

After much deliberation i have invested in an EOS 350D (upgrading from an Olympus C4000). I have always been interested in photography, but now want to increase my (limited) skills and knowledge.

Does anyone know of a decent photography course for beginners (either distance-learning or in the North-West)

What do you recomend as a way to increae my proficiency??????

Thanks for any help offered.

Have you checked your local college's evening classes?

I've been looking into this myself, and one of the schools near where I live will be starting courses in January, only £40 for 10 weeks.

and get dismissed by the large percentage of them for using digital. some of the older members of photoclubs seem to shun digital as "not real photography" which is ********, its just usinga different medium, we dont go around slagging people off for using film, so why they feel the need to slag off people using digital ill never know. unless of course they're really scared that we might be better than them!

Can anyone recommend a good book(s) for a beginner hoping to progress, I happened to win a £50 amazon voucher at work and this would seem a perfect way to spend it!

Not got a copy yet, but I've seen this one highly recommended on a couple of forums and will be getting it myself.
