Londons street entertainers!! Critique plz!

Hi all! I am working in London this week and last night I went for walkies around Covent Garden with my 20D and a nifty fifty on board!!

Heres a couple of the memories!! Let me know what you think! There is a little bit of quality degradation due to resizin!!!

Thanks for takin the time to look at these! I know I still have alot to learn!!!

The first one is really good, really well caught!

Shame about the one with the chap on the tightrope, his face is obscured by the thing he's juggling

Just out of interest, how many pictures did you throw away?

The beauty of digital photography! Those 30 you chucked cost nothing apart from battery life!

The second picture of the bloke on the tightrope is better as you can see his face. I'm still drawn to the woman looking directly at him on the steps though

Sometimes B&W can work well. Couple examples attached from Juggler I found in Stratford on Avon the other week. Shame the shots were taken only 2 days after "strange" comp, as I could have used 2nd shot there in some guise

I prefer the black guy shot. Its saying something. Great focus and contrast.
#1 Dont like the bypasser by her chin. Distracting.
#2 Dont like the bike or bollards.
#3 Great
#4 Verticals arent vertical and those two girls spoil the shot.

I have a book "20th century photography" 759 pages detailing works by every major artist from every field of the last 100 years and not more then 10 colour photos in it.

If anything it's sometimes colour works well

Much prefer black and white myself

Hard sometimes shooting such things without capturing people in them. A lot of the time other people in them make the photo. What's a street performer without an audience after all. Verticals are not the main issue in street photography, where hand holding is your tripod and buildings are not your subject, and often only seconds to capture a moment.

Some shots from the very small and crowed streets of york last bank Holiday where, it's hard not to have a performer blocked by passers by

Sean, I love the mood in #1, its class!!

That guy in #2 certainly has a challenge on his hands! I think (personal opinion) that the violin/viola is one of the most difficult instruments to make sound good, never mind having to control a little devil aswell!!

Excellent capture on #3! Love the facial expression!

Great perspective on #4!!!

But #1 still does it for me!! Excellent shot!!

Doh, I missed #5 and #6 the first time round!!

Pretty guitarist, nice one!!

Strange concept for street entertaining but I love the facial expressions on the performer and on some of the audience behind!!
