Canon Hand Strap

Anyone needing to know how to fit a Canon hand Strap E1, well I think I've cracked it..

Bought it months ago, but it needed a quiet Sunday afternoon to work it out, along with my new Op-Tech Pro Loop Strap.

Took TWO hours.....anyone done it quicker...or am I just a knob?

Well those two shots were not taken with "L" glass and thats for sure

I have mine on a single fixing position. A second anchor is bound to be better but I find it completely usable as it is.

Camera in each hand is not easy

But how does it support thr camera like that...?

I guess when held upright its ok, but does it flop out of you hand if you lower your arm?

You can tell I'm a engineer/cnc machinist, just look closer at my little pinky in the picture...

Because the anchor point is at the top of the camera the weight of it naturally pulls it into your hand.The strap bites on to the anchor point so it does not just slip round.

I don't tend to let my arm hang down with it as I just plonk it back in the Crumpler bag. It does stay if you do lower it and just keep a gentle curl in your fingers- no need to hold it tight.

I don't want an accessory permanently on the bottom of the camera so I'm happy with it as it is. I hated it when I had a clumsy neckstrap hanging off it.

I spend my working days engineering designing products with AutoCad and then cnc coding... after which I send out the programs and go set the machines. No aircraft parts ... sheet metal for light fittings.

I worked for British Aerospace for years, now at Insys (formerly Hunting Engineering).

Guess you use Fanuc? I can write basic stuff in that, too slow and complex without Autocad. Had a dabble with Catia and Vericut, but passed up the chance to program full time. I can write Bridgeport conversational, but who can't...

Never used one with a Fanuc control.

Used to write G code for a General Electric control on a paper pad and type it in at the control. First ever was a Pullmax machine which had an interactive type control. then the GE..with cassette tapes then Fagor now Anca.

Apart from a quick edit I let software write the actual G code these days.

I have a flattened end to my left middle finger where a press tool closed on it. Apart from that all parts present and correct

Hi John, Had mine about six months. It took me about 15 to 20 minuets the first time (on my 300D) and about ten minuets when I changed to the 350D. So yes It has been done faster, but I wouldn't call you a knob, you might find out where I live.

John, do you reckon that the wrist strap is going to be best used with a battery grip attachment as well then ?

Hey John,
the strap is designed to attach to the bottom of the battery grip, so you really need it for the strap to work correctly.

I find it very comfortable to use.

Just got my hand strap. I already had the grip so it seemed a logical step.

Pain to fit, but seems good. Bit strange adjusting it, as I found that either it was tight enough to hold the camera but I couldn't reach the dials, or I could reach the dials but then it was a little loose.

Recommendation was for it to be loose enough to reach the buttons, then the grip holds the camera when your fingers are bent round the front of the camera.

I got the HK version and it comes with an adaptor for the bottom [screws into the tripod mount]. It's good but to be honest without the battery grip the hold isn't great

I found it a little small and it pushes your finger off the shutter release. I found by having 3 fingers through the grip and index over the top it's comfortable. Hopefully the grip will make it a better fit

IIRC mine came from 'roxsen' on eBay. Good buy and definatelly worth the £'s.

Oh and on the subject of manked fingers I have a dud too after a bike accident LOL

I got one from a UK seller, although it cost me £22. Easy come, easy go.

I wanted it for Saturday, although he isn't sending it off till today.
