How do you shoot a High Street

I'd like to get a shot of a busy High Street without showing the people, i have seen this done in magazines before.
I have a ND8 Filter, will this be enough and what iso,av,tv should i set, or will i still get blur's of people and maybe over expose. I;m using a Canon 300D.

Simply slow the shutter speed down as far as you can, you need to set the slowest iso, smallest appeture and as many ND filters as you need to get the required result, a bit of trial and error needed.

Also shooting headlong down the street will more than likely still show up people and vehicles as they'll be moving in a straight line towards and away from you, best to go for a side shot, even then you may have the odd ghostly image.

I am actually being serious - well for me anyway. It will be getting light around 4:00 which could yield some interesting results between twilight & sunrise.

How far into a long exposure do you think would get in a "busy high street" before:

a) Some Chav shoves his ugly mug down your lens?

b) Mrs Chav demolishes your tripod with her 4 abreast buggy?

c) The delivery van/bus pulls up in directly in front of you?

d) All of the above?

Make a nice early start, spend a couple of hours shooting, full English on the way home followed by an early siesta!

You got off lightly, my first answer was going to be "stand on a box...."
