Minolta Dynax 7D v Canon 20D ? opinions.. :)

Hiya.

I'm thinking of getting my first Digital SLR.

I've got a 35mm Minolta 7i that I must have had for about half my life I'm 34

For digital i've had a Olympus C1400XL for a few years 1.4 Megapixel.

Now i'm looking at getting either a Minolta I fancy this don't know why but just like minoltas or the Canon EOS 20D.

Anyone tried out both and got an opinion on one other the other?

Cheers

Steph

The Dynax is a very nice camera, but my money would go on the 20D every time. It's a cracking camera, and Canon's lens choice makes the decision even easier.

cheers Radiohead.

Have you actually tried both or just assume that the canon will be better? I don't mean that rudely in any way i'm just curious, what do you find better about the canon, (apart from it's reputation).

Cheers

I tried both before deciding to save a wedge and go for the D70.

The 7D was a bit clunky in operation, although the in-built IS was appealing. Certainly well-built.

The 20D would have been my choice if I'd have had the money, although the D70 runs it close IMO. It's a very nice unit and has everything you need - great handling, lovely images, huge featureset, massive user base, great lens choice. IMO the DSLR is currently all about Canon and Nikon, and you'd have to had a very good reason to not choose on from either of these (ie. already having bought into another lens system).
