Hello good people from this part of the forum!
I'm quite new to the whole digital camera buying thing. I've used some in the past but now we need one of our own.

I will require some optical zoom
Ability to work in darkened conditions (for inside and outside properties with no ligths)
Reasonable macro ability would be nice
Quick picture taking (from time of clicking buttom to photo being taken) if this is possible at this price range.
And some video function would be a nice touch (preferably with sound)


I have been reccomended Fujifilm cameras by some people and they look the part, but there are so just many at this range I dont know where to start.

Whats your views on the A330 and A340? and is there any difference except one being 3.3mp and other being 4mp. How about the E500?

Indoor shots on a compact can be tough. If I was you I’d get something with image stabilization on it. That will allow you to take shots with longer exposures, letting in more light. But without IS you’d get blurry photos. The iso on compacts cameras are not very good past 200, so you can’t use it to make your photos lighter.


So if you like available light shots, then the best way to go is with one of these. The Panasonic fz3, fz4, fz5, fz20.

They will cost more, but are better suited to the type of shots you like
