Monitor Calibration

I've been lending my kids bobbins tiny crt monitor for a couple of months as my sony TFT went on the blink. They came to collect it yesterday and gave me a replacment while its fixed (which was down to one of the lads of here who i owe one )

Jesus!! Our liams monitor is rubbish and mine was faulty and the shots i've taken look much better now on this monitor, i kept thinking that a lot looked under exposed but i see now they're not. Most look much better then i first thought.

My pics look MUCH better on my cheapo TFT (Yakumo) than my old CRT.

Make sure your monitor is correctly calibrated too mate..

I've only just hooked it up 2 hrs ago, still getting used to screen seems really bright to me but it matches the graff that i have for correct calibration. Must be that i've been without a working/decent monitor. This one is only on laon from sony until mine is fixed

Mine also look 'bright' compared to a CRT, but is calibrated correctly.

My airliners pics are screened by some real tough dudes, and without correct calibration I'd not stand a chance of getting anything accepted.

I wonder how many people are adjusting pics from their new cameras to suit a non calibrated monitor (and not looking at the histogram), and then wondering why other people say they are too dark/light/badcolours etc etc??

A Spyder is money well spent if you're looking to print elsewhere or send stuff to libraries.

I have a colour correction program called iCorrect, it is free to use and register, anyway, it has a calibration utility, where you have to adjust the brightness and contrast until you can see a series of dark circles on a dark pallette, so I have done this and to my horror, the the screen now hurts my eyes because it is to bright, but my pictures do look better,....so I guess its Specsavers for me!
