Can a scratch be polished out of a lens. Or what would it cost to replace the lens in a Fuji S602?

Is this scratch having an effect on the resulting images? I know from experience that it takes some serious damage on a lens before it's a problem. As for polishing away the scratch, you still nead to consider the lens coatings that have to be applied again (it would cost a bomb)

Often the first piece of glass is more about protection of the internals rather than being part of the lens itself. It may be that this can be replaced fairly cheaply... if it requires a whole new lens unit, the costs will be very high, even too high to warrant replacing.

I doubt it can be polished out. Even if it can it will be at the expense of the lens coating which will seriously affect image qualilty. I also doubt a replacement would be economical but you can get a quote from Fuji here.

Note they have have refurb S602s in their Refurb Shop.

Slower reactions than a PinK Fairy - that'll take some living down....

As PF says, it may well be that the scratch will be thrown so far out of focus as to disappear in actual use.

I have a Canon g3 with a scratch on the lense, but it really doesn't show on the images, so despite my heart sinking, every time I look at the camera,..I am happy to carry on regardless, I would echo what has been said, and just leave well alone.
