What is the best 7m camera?

Looking to upgrade from my pentax s4 and have tried the pentax 750z but found it a bit big.
Anyone got any better suggestions or know of any new cameras about to be released that would give the competition a run for its money.
I am told the sony p200 has a poor flash so it is getting very hard to get a decent camera in this range

was hoping to get something a wee bit smaller. How do you find the flash? The pentax one is great but the sony one does struggle

I've not got the camera i've got a 20D (Digital slr) it's said to be a very good camera though.

How about the http://www.steves-digicams.com/2004_reviews/s70.html i personally think its the best compact around. Pact with features looks great in black, but you can have it in silver. Has everything you need and more

Don't know much about it, but there is the Sony W7 (7mp version of the popular W1)

The Sony V3 has to be on your list, as does the Casio EX-P700.

The ixus' cameras are decent. I have a ixus 500. The only thing that lets my 500 down is its poor battery life but that may be fixed for the ixus 700. I am currently in the process of buying a Sony W5 from Germany, which is a slightly updated version of the W1. I was swayed by the good reviews the W1 got plus the huge 2.5" LCD on the back and the improved (over my ixus) battery life.

EDIT: Bugger, didn't see the 7 megapixel bit. In which case the W7 might be worth considering as its based on the same chassis as the W1 and W5.

I had the use of a G6 for a few days and it's results are almost equal to a DSLR upto 10X8. Great features as well. Can't speak for the others.

The S70 is 10mm wider then the W7 that makes a huge difference for indoor and landscape shots, has a larger aperture range, closer macro range twice the shutter speed longer flash range. It can also shoot in RAW can take micro drives.. Just beats the sony in almost every spec. A side by side of the specs
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/comp...dscw7&show=all

I do like that the sony can Take AA's. More compacts should offer it.

Both cams would server you very well. But the specs on the S70 would lead me to it

I have a P200 which I took on a recent trip to NYC. I've not had any issues with the flash in my photos. I was tempted to buy the Sony slave flash as an extra accessory but have not yet needed to. I would recommend this camera, especially given its size and the quality of the Carl Zeiss lens.

The G6 is bigger than the Optio 750Z, which I find small and pocketable compared to other cameras with the same features.

What features must the camera have?

I can recommend the Canon S70. A friend of mine has one, and the pictures he brought back from Australia are outstanding. So much so I thought he had taken them with his 10D.
