What is the best policy if your digital camera happens to get slightly wet, especially the lens?

Allow it to dry naturally or try and wipe it dry with a soft cloth?

I'd suggest a lens cleaning kit for a lens - otherwise a very soft cotton cloth/t-shirt.

If it's camera internals that have got wet - remove power source and allow to dry naturally and with luck the camera may live again... (it doesn't sound like this is your provlem but thought I'd post it up)

Is that what you use if you see some rainbow colourd spot on the lens, even though the pictures are OK?

It was only a few spots of rain luckily, trying to get my pics of Wembley stadium (in JohnG's thread).

I'm just very paranoid after trashing the camera once already. I gently mopped the lens with my best t-shirt before quickly putting the camera back in it's bag. I have now got a decent sized bag of cilica gel in there just in case. I shall purchase a cleaning kit asap though.

I normally use PecPads and Eclipse if the lens has any muck that a blower will not shift.

Those cotton buds you use in your ears can be quite useful as well (if used with care)

I don't know what camera you've got, but if it will accept it, fit a skylight filter to the lens. This way, the lens is protected and any damage cause by water or, worse still, scratches, can be cheaply fixed by replacing the filter.
