Camera Suitable Taking Remote Shots (Fishing)

Son goes Carp Fishing and has been using a Nikon F80 (film) set up with a bulb release to take self portraits holding fish ( if he is lucky )

He wants to go digital and asks whats about that would suit and have a wireless remote available as he is several feet away from camera and dont think the usual wired remotes would be long enough .
S/H would be fine as he dont want to spend a lot , he may get a few quid for the F80 that could go towards purchase .

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Julian

What's your budget? Any camera you buy will have a 10 second timer so a remote shutter release isn't essential. You can get a cheap wireless release for almost any DLSR i think.

Something like this is about the cheapest DSLR kit you'll get, but still very decent
Canon EOS 1100D 12.2 MP DSLR Camera + EF-S IS II 18-55mm Lens (Refurbished) 8714574570181 | eBay

Thanks for reply , bit above his budget , think he was looking about £100 plus what he could get for his film cam so I reckon £150 max which might get him a s/h DSLR Sony A200 something like that .
He used a compact with 10 sec delay as you suggested this morn but wasn"t ideal.

If he has lenses for his Nikon F80, why not try and get a Nikon D50 or D70 something like that. They do come with shutter delay, and the D70 I still have as a backup works with a Nikon remote control as well...

lurcher - if your son keeps the lens(es) from the F80, all he needs is a D50 body. Here is a s/h Nikon D50 body with a 3 month warranty for £129 (+ £5.10 UK delivery) through Amazon.

With an £11.30 Nikon ML-L3 remote control or an equivalent £1.77 remote from Neewer, he should be able to take cracking pictures of himself with his carp.

Cheers,

Bill
