Creating a web site - what do you use ?

I am thinking of creating a web site and I have just discovered I have 10Mb of free web space with my BT internet account

I am sure there are a few people here who created their own sites and I just wondered what you have used ?

RedBubble

Ahoy!

Are you intending to create a photog website? If so, Unkie Pirate is here.

This is my freebie website from RedBubble. Just sign-up and you can create your own plus like flickr/fotolia, share images and sell/buy. For a freebie, it's perfectly decent and there's no restrictions. Create as many sub folders as you like (unlike flickr that requires a paid upgrade).

I've also created and bought a 2010 calendar that came to £11.50 (there are offer codes out there for free delivery if you look around). It's pretty good.

However, if you're looking to create your own site on your free webspace, one thing I would do is go to 123reg.co.uk and buy yourself a domain name and have it forwarded to your free webpace address. You can have it masking the webspace URL so people will have no idea they're being re-directed.

I currently use a custom 3rd part style sheet package add-on to Dreamweaver. Its rather tedious to maintain, so currently investigating Porta :

Porta photo album generator

Worth a look.

10MB? thats a bit tight...

i dont know what you get with your BT hosting but you can get alot for free these days and for about £3 a month you can do practically anything including mysql and secure servers so you can host a gallery and sell them from the same website with cheap paid hosting they usually give you a free domain or two.

I use Smugmug to create my website and point it to my own domain name which I have with GoDaddy. Works really well for me.

10mb is like 5 images isnt it!?! :D

I use joomla for mine, an old version which needs upgrading and it isnt best suited for pure photo website but it gets the job done.
