Angry Why is the TZ7 so expensive in the UK?

I just did a quick search for DMC-ZS3 and Amazon.com is currently retailing it for $281.12 USD, that's £169.81 (no info regarding tax/vat).

So why is the UK version £65 more expensive compared to the US version?

Does anyone one know why the UK version is £65 more expensive compared to the US version?
Beacuse like everything else, it always will be, thus is one of the major downsides to living in the UK . . . . we appear to be the ones who pay rather a lot more than our cousins over the pond and maybe a shade more than in the EU.

So, unless you're going on vacation and can order via Amazon for delivery to an address in the USA and bring it back, trying to find comparible USA prices in the UK will be nigh-on impossible. Just like fuel prices (which are about 2/3rds more expensive in the UK than the USA), and cigarettes, cars, houses ad infanitum.

So, good luck with your quest.

I am aware of the differences (to a degree), but this feel a bit too much (not to mention the 15min cap).

There must be some authority responsible for fair trading?

It seems the difference between UK and Japan is quite minimal (only £5).

Amazon Japan is retailing it for 34,344 YEN (inc Tax), which is around £230

They only price match with other high-street stores with certain approximation.

Re: Why is TZ7 so expensive in the UK?

It's all down to the strong yen and dollar.

I've been looking at one recently as a second camera to my DSLR. I've recently seen them for £245 at Warehouseexpress.co.uk and I think £235 at Camerabox.co.uk, both plus postage of course.

On the latter check out the talkphotography forums (am I allowed to mention other forums here ?) as camerbox have had mixed reviews in recent times (I bought off them with no problems, but that was almost a year ago).

Re: Why is TZ7 so expensive in the UK?

If you can do without HD video the Tz6 is available for £171 from Amazon UK and is otherwise almost identical spec(slightly smaller display seems to be main difference)
Prices in the US are generally cheaper because it's a much larger market(simple law of supply and demand)
