Hi all....new to DSLR's and after a little advice. Currently looking at stepping up from Compact to DSLR and have been looking at the 450D and the 500D.

Price wise the 500D only seems to be £80 more than the 450D so guessing the 500D is the way to go.

Any advice?

i went for the 450D shortly before the 500D was released. i wasn't disappointed with my decision one little bit when i heard about the 500D. i think if i had wanted some form of video recording then i may have wished i had waited but i have a separate HD camcorder. if this feature is a bonus for you then go for the 500D. i see the extra £80 useful to go towards an additional lens like the nifty fifty or some accessories eg memory card, camera bag, filters etc.

Both good cameras.

500D adds 15mp, better LCD and video.

I'd go for the 500D realy for the difference.

Don't have any form of video camera so think the extra will be worth it.
