Photoshop Advice - Removing Spots....

Not the acne type, but the top that this "model" is wearing.
What's the best approach of getting the top neutral?

Re: Photoshop Advice - Removing Spots....

Whatever will be done sounds like hard work to me

Almost easier to actually get a similar model in the same room with a spotless dress and just replace the head!
or same model with spotless dress elsewhere and replace her in that room

Im sure someone clever will come along shortly with a smart answer but with my limited knowledge PS it seems possible but will be very painstaking
The dress can certainly be "painted" but how realistic that will be is probably dependent on PS skill

What idea did you have yourself?

Re: Photoshop Advice - Removing Spots....

The image was taken during a camera club model evening.
I've shot this girl before and she looked more photogenic back then and wore more neutral clothing.

I did think that PS would be a right PITA - had a quick play with clone stamp and patch tool, but there are just too many bloody spots!!!

Shame really, because the models do it for free, or rather TFP/CD and with that top all the images are spoilt. Wouldn't have looked so bad with a plain background.

Re: Photoshop Advice - Removing Spots....

Very dull task but you can do it with smudge, desaturation sponging, blur and some playing with levels...

To give you an idea:

The seam on the sleeve is a bit awkward though...

Re: Photoshop Advice - Removing Spots....

I'd be inclined to remove the seam anyway.

Yeah, it's doable but no job like that is easy and it will be time consuming. I've been using PS for years and work pretty quickly. To do a good job on that I reckon I'd be leaving a minimum of about an hour. Anyone without much experience can probably at least treble that time. On the bright side, at least the hair is in discrete ringlets you can work around

I notice that you chose the easiest part to demonstrate with
Let me know when you've finished the rest of the top

Cheers

To be honest there isn't really a hard part, there are parts that take longer than the others, which I couldn't be bothered to do as I only wanted to knock up a quick demo in a few minutes to show how the smudge technique could work if you wanted to go that route, obviously if you spend more time on it and work with a smaller smudge tool the results would be better than my quick demo
You would of course require some zoom, and a lot smaller smudge tool than I was using, around the hair parts for precision.
