Anything to be aware of when flying with a D90?

Im off to Canada next week for my holiday, and I am taking my D90, its coming in the aircraft with me as carry on.

Do I need to do anything to the camera before flying? Do I leave the battery in take it out etc?

Someone said, i should split the lens and body apart for the flight

So any advice is appricated

Must say I've never bothered separating my lens/body on flights and never had any issues with my d90 (or d70 before it). Be interested if this was something others recmend though.

I left my lens on and battery in the camera when I went to America last year with no problems, flew from uk to newyork, newyork to vegas, vegas to houston, houston to florida, florida to newyork then back to uk. The only problem I ever had was in the empire state building, they wouldnt let me take a tripod up to the top.

Oh and a newyork police man held his gun and shook his head at me when I went to take his picture. Camera quickly away.

The battery is best off in the camera.
If you are taking a battery with you you will need the battery holder that comes with your camera (or at least I got one with mine) - see the issue with some airlines in the battery has to be covered so the terminals are not exposed - due to batteries possibly leaking or exploding or some nonsense like that.

I've always flown with my camera fully assembled and never had an issue.

Been on many flights with camera and lens, never seperated them or took batteries out.

I would suggest keeping the battery in the camera, as it will be a lithum Ion one, and like Laptop batteries you are not allowed to take them loose as carry on.

Most security won't notice but if you get one that is onthe ball they will raise it.
