I don't know zip about this stuff, but it looks like a reasonable bit of kit for the money.

You can get 1TB ones for another £20.

Im thinking of going NAS anyhow, so I can access it from all the computers on my network.

Its not a bad price, its also a good brand. TurboUSB is a bit of a gimmick though as there is no such thing, it wil be usb 2.0 and the same transfer speed as all other usb 2.0 external HDs.

Due to my medical condition, I started to have fits/spasms (again) whilst in bed (I was only in there for 2 hours). My missus has gone to work (reluctantly) and now after taking a cocktail of medications, I'm in the land of the zombies are dare not go to sleep.

TurboUSB does exist and is not a gimmick. It is additional cache. They claim 60% improvement but you do get around 20-30% improvement over a non-cached USB 2.0 controller.

Sorry to hear that, I wouldn't wish sleepness nights on anyone. Working 4 12hr night shifts in a row totally drains me and it takes another 3 days before I start sleeping properly at night, just in time for my 4 12hr day shifts

Sounds interesting, I have fallen behind with the latest advances. Is there a delay in transfer while the cache fills, and is the speed difference noticible?
Im guessing the transfer will only be as fast as the slowest point on the system, which will be the USB controller on the computer.
Methinks I will have to look into it.

USB drives are slow and don't use the available bandwidth of USB 2.0, so a more efficient driver and some cache can boost performance. Of course it depends on the type of data transfers you do.

Anyway, the next drive I buy will be USB 3.0.
