You dont get a memory disc with the pentax, just 11mb built in, you can't add lenses to it, for the canon you can buy a close-up lense a wide angle lense & a telephoto lense plus it it can be set to fully manual for when you get more in to it.

you can't use pencil batteries with the pentax, you'll soon find out how handy that is. I really like the way The A80's screen can flip round like a view cam, plus it faces inwards which helps protect it.

When you get two good camera's like these, it starts to get subjective, but i'd go for the A80

.....but the Canon is *huge* compared to the Pentax.......

A camera is no use whatsoever, if you don't have it with you. The Pentax is so small and light that you can take it with you anywhere anytime......

It's not that big, http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_...0/a80_size.jpg

The pentax is smaller. But the A80 is small enough. Both camera's i like, i wish my ixus400 took pencils to. The amount time's my battery has ran out because i forgot to charge it. Next camera i get is going to take pencils to.

Other then its size, i don't think the pentax offers anything else over the A80, not many small digital cameras can be set to fully manual like the A80

But you will be happy with any of them

Thanks to everyone for their advice,I have plumped for the canon plus a case, charger and 8 batteries so it will keep her going for £333 from camerasdirect and they gurantee delivery for tomorrow, not bad seen as jessops wanted 332 just for the camera.I forgot to get an extra memory card though wheres the cheapest place to get one and do you recommend 128 or 256?

I've been looking into the Ax0 range of Canon camera, during the last couple of weeks.

If possible, please could you post your experiences with the camera, newbie265? Tell all that you can!
