Where to buy Canon EF-S 10-22 in UK?

Hello everybody!

After months (and I mean months!) of reading reviews, looking at sample pictures, trying in-store etc. I've finally decided to take the plunge and buy a Canon EF-S 10-22mm for my 350D.

I also looked at the Sigma, Tokina and Tamron alternatives, but quite frankly the Canon is consistently viewed as the best.

So now I've been scouring the Internet to find the cheapest place to buy one new (sorry eBay sellers, I have a thing about buying 'used').

Amazon have it up for £580.75, but I managed to find www.fizi.com have it up for £475.99, far cheaper than anywhere else

I was wondering if anyone has any experiences with Fizi, or if they are reputable? I did a WhoIs lookup and they appear to be legitimately based in the UK.

Also, perhaps there are other places selling this lens cheaper in the UK?

I know OneStop Digital (Hong Kong) are selling it for around the £480 mark, but I believe with postage and import taxes / VAT, this would add a fair bit to the cost.

Kerso does them for £515 I think. Never heard of this fizi.com, I'd be wary anyway.

i'd either look for a mint 2nd hand one in the classifieds on here and talk photography or give kerso a shout

Mint condition ones were going for £400-£450 on the talkphotography website classifieds.

Fizi are legit in uk....
they've been trading 4 years and according to credit ratings (public info) they are a moderate risk with a value of £2000 and a credit risk of £150

so I would listen to the advice above

One Stop Digital is selling it for £495.99 delivered.
In addition if you have to pay customs etc, then they will reimburse you - so the price you see is the price you pay.

I had to pay customs on a lens a couple of years ago and the process to recover was painless and quick.

It gets 'mixed' reviews. I've used them to buy a few lenses and a flashgun and found them excellent. Bear in mind they are grey imports usually (bit like Ian Kerso's) but Camerabox do a 2 year warranty I think. I'd use them again and again, just make sure it is in stock to avoid problems.

I see what I want from camerabox also, they have a bundled deal saving another £80 over jessops, someone said here its a grey import, what does that mean?

Actually I think these will do something...

If you look at them, they are just magnifying glasses...

I guess for 14.99 how good can the lenses be?

edit, just reviewed their customer reviews!! Shocking and camerabox have only replied to one unsatisfied customer who keeps being fobbed of with "out of stock" excuses since May with an "out of stock" answer from their head of customer service..........appalling, My £1000 is def going elswhere

Hi,

best to buy from Ian ( Kerso ) as he imports his gear from the U.S. but because he pays the proper import duty etc they come with a full UK warranty

Best to check if in stock and if so then delivery will be prompt, I have bought loads of gear from him and collected locally from his sister

Last price quote I got from Ian on the 8th of July for the 10-22 was £529 plus postage but might have chanced since then.

Will PM you his price list from that date if you like.

As for 'grey' imports well they are rarely covered by warranty as many manufacturers WON'T honour it, Kerso's gear however IS covered by Canon so not grey and I think saying that Kerso's imports are grey is doing him a great disservice, check out this explanation by ePhotozine about the meaning of grey paying particular note to this part:

"To sum up, grey importers can only undercut legitimate retailers because of their irregular practices. Their overheads are much reduced because they have no showrooms; help lines or workshops with knowledgeable staff.

They offer no service, support or back up"

Fizi (whoever they are) @ £489.98 inc. postage but without insurance (+ £9.99).

OSD @ £495.99.

I hope for your sake it's all it's cracked up to be coz that's a lot of wonga for a 12mm range optic.

OSD price is the full and final price. No import duty etc to pay and includes shipping. IF you did get billed, you fax it to OSD and they re-imburse you.

Many AVF members (myself included - twice) have bought from them without issue. Great prices and excellent service.

thanks but his shop doesnt have any cameras only lenses
