Yet ANOTHER Beginner's Thread!

Hello All,
This is my first post so please go easy!

Over the last 6 months or so i have been taking photography a lot more seriously. I invested some money in a hald decent P&S Compact Camera (Samsung NV100HD) but now however I am looking into getting a DSLR and starting to focus a lot on Macro shots, Macro and Landscapes. Most of you are probably thinking does he know they are two complete opposites?

ha, well yes I do know that but i enjoy both, and as i go skiing twice/three times a year, or go on holidays to such picturesque places i enjoy doing that as well as the Macro stuff. Macro i like to do when I am fishing mainly, with such a lot of time there it is ideal, as some of you may know.

Now this is the dilemna, I know a little bit about using Manual Mode. Also I know about Shutter Speed and ISO ETC. So please no reccomendations of "well I think you should get this compact... I would like DSLR reccomendations only please.

The next bit.. I don't have a lot of money at the moment, so I was wondering what the best DSLR/Lens combination was for around £400ish? I can get specified Macro lenses and what have you later on, but for use until next time I have some money, which would be the best camera/lens combo for all-round work?
Was thinking maybe a Canon D1000 or an Olympus E-520. Preferably new?

Thanks for posting these pics -- a wide variety of interesting subjects. You seem to be enjoying taking photography more seriously because they are quite good.

Thanks for your kind works Bev, yeah I really do enjoy it! I have a few more...
I try as hard as I can.. I have some more but don't want to clutter this thread up too much. I have been looking back through the competition threads. They really do inspire me! Some of the ones this month (particularly the one with the chilli's coming out of the jar) are just the sort of things I would like to get into Macro-wise.
I have also been looking at the Sony A Series. The A200 in particular because it is quite cheap?
I also know that the lens is as important when taking Macro photos as the body itself?

A200 is a bargain, buy it. Tamron SP 90mm f2.8 is the macro lens to get, expensive though. The next up from that is the Sigma 105mm macro and then the Sony/Minolta 100mm macro.

I have the A200, A700 and the Tamron 90mm.

It'll certainly be the cheapest, but being cheap doesn't mean rubbish

Cheap body, spend the money on the macro lens.

You can pick up the Tamron off eBay like I did, or buy it from One Stop Digital.

Tamron SP AF 90mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1 Di Lens

The A200 is excellent, assuming you like it in your hands, just buy one, you'll love it and get stunning macro shots with the Tammy.

Amazing I saw this at Jessops on the Strand ( London) for more than a £120 more just this morning...

PS: Interesting variety of pictures . Seems you like the bugs..

All OK but the very first one seems to lack any subject of interest, and the last one I quite like

Don't forget that the feel of each camera is very important... what sounds good on paper might feel horrible in hand. Best thing to do is narrow it down to a few models you're interested in and then go into your local camera shop and have play about with them.

Having said that, another vote for the A200 here. I bought mine in October last year after spending a good few weeks doing some research on entry level DSLRs. I couldn't be happier with my purchase

I juts thought I would bump this thread and post some more recent attempts!
Thanks for all your words so far. I have been looking around at the E-420 and the 1000D, still keeping my eyes open for the right camera, and the right price!

Here they are, hope you enjoy!

This one is wonky, I already know. (Photoshop CS$ was used)

All taken with my Samsung NV100HD, some with a bit of editing, not too much on any of them though.
