Shot of pressing the shutter at the desired interval is there any way to achieve this automatically?

I have a Canon 50D and would need it for tomorrow. I don't really want to spend money either as I will only require it once!

With the above points I doubt there is but I thought I'd still ask!

The only time I've ever done time delay stuff (assuming you mean 1 frame every 10 seconds for 2 hours type stuff) has been using video cameras. Never seen it done with stills, and not seen it as a feature on any DSLRs.

You can buy remotes that do this for you. Something like this. I would also guess that it might be possible if you shoot tethered to a PC?

Interval shooting is a few clicks away on the nikon D300.

As for Canon Maybe connect to a PC and use software?

Yeah, I've certainly not seen a menu option for it on-camera with the canons.

Basically I'm having a 20m tree cut down and they reakon it will all be done in an hour! So I thought it may be quite good to do time lapse but only as an after thought so thats why I don't want to buy any kit that wont be used again!

I'd do it manually. that way you don't have to take lots of frames when nothing's going on, and can take more then things get interesting. It's only an hour.

Found out it can be done via the EOS Utility so going to have a play around with that later!

They've told me an hour but thats partly why I want to do it, its a 20 meter high fully grown Beach tree! Getting it all cut down small enough to get out of the garden (the way they reakon they can do it) in an hour will be a feat!

Plus its the developer who's paying as it should have gone before the house was built so they are probably getting the local cowboy in!

Anyway, I may have to use the P&S as I'm not sure 17mm (widest lens I have) will be wide enough but I assume by the time its been made into an AVI I'll only need something like 640x480?
