Physical limits of DSLRs

A bit techy but worth a read. Basic message is that current high end DSLRs sensors are getting close to certain physical limits so rather than spending money for more mega pixels you could be better off buying good glass.

Re: Physical limits of DSLRs

Saw this somewhere else a couple of days ago - an interesting read which prompted a few interesting comments. His conclusion was that we're also close to the limits of high ISO / low noise performance. My guess is that technology will progress with both pixel count and ISO/noise but may be increasingly reliant on in-camera software to yield anything worthwhile (I think we're seeing signs of this already with current generation cameras).

You should always get the best glass you can afford. Bodies come and go but your lenses stay with you. I'm still using a 20 year old Canon EF 28-80 F2.8-4.0L and it's still one of the sharpest lenses i've ever used.
