Anybody taken a camera paragliding?

After much swapping and changing of minds i finally decided to shell out some cash to go paragliding whilst i'm on holiday in Kas, Turkey. I'm going this afternoon, just a thought has anybody else been paragliding and taken a camera with them. The instructor insuerd me it would be safe as they can tie it to the harness aswell so i cant drop it however their insurance wont cover my camera in the case of an accident. Iv booked it as late in the day as they would allow 4pm so hopefully the light wont be too bad for pictures then. Has anybody else tried taking pictures whilst paragliding or something similar, the whole experience looks fairly gently. It just seems too good an opportunity to get some decent panaroma style shots of the area to pass up. Basically i want some reasurance that its worth risking the camera and to you reckon it is that risky, as i said whole thig looks fairly gentle.

Hoping to get shots like this, but obviously it'll be too early in the day to get a sunset as good as this.

Re: Anybody taken a camera paragliding?

Hello there

Yep have done this and would love to do it again. Mine was also done in Olu deniz Turkey, in

These were taken with the 400d and the kit lens, also used a polariser filter.

Here are a few shots. Linked to larger.

This is the bloke in front jumping off the mountain.

The view, this is what you jump off.

This is the beach I landed on.

Hope you have a good time.

Re: Anybody taken a camera paragliding?

Haha a little late with your reply, due to the 2 hour time difference iv just got back I did take my camera and im glad i did, turned out they had a photographer as part of the group trying to flog you pics anyway so glad i took my own. I didnt have a polariser as you did however i still think i got some gd results. The only issue, is that the whole time iv been here, this has been the only cloudy day so far. It wasnt really cloudy but there was a misty haze everywhere that spoilt some of the pictures. Iv just put the pics into lightroom so ill post a couple up in a bit.

Nice shots by the way
