Advice please for Panasonic TZ7

Just bought the camera and absolutely over the moon with it.
My issue though is how do you view the HD pictures and video via your PC. (My PC is a Sony Vaio which is HD ready).
I've bought the HDMI cable and connected to my tv and everything is perfect. However when connecting the camera via the HDMI cable to my PC, the PC doesn't know it's there.
If I connect the camera via the supplied USB cable to the PC or insert the SD card, the photos are of lesser quality and any HD video I've taken is not found at all.
If anyone could offer me any advice please ......

Re: Advice please for Panasonic TZ7

I have a TZ7 and have no problems viewing the pics or AVCHD files on my mac connected via the USB cable.
If you elected to save the HD video in the AVCHD format with your PC connected navigate to...

TZ7
PRIVATE
AVCHD
BDMV
STREAM
00001.MTS

The 00001.MTS will be the 1st HD video file followed by 00002.MTS etc if you have shot more than one..
You need special software to read the AVCHD files, I use a mac and can't comment on PC use but I use "VLC Player" to view the HD video files which are stunning on my 17" Macbook Pro.
This is a free download available for PC and MAC.

As to the pic quality I have no complaints, perhaps your pics look fine on your TV because you are sitting further away from it and viewing them at a closer distance on your PCs screen are giving you a better image but showing up deficiences in your focusing or technique.

EDIT. Isn't the HDMI on your Sony PC an output for connecting to your TV?...it's not an input.
