Any UV or skylite filter at what 77mm(?) will do , but to be honest get a good un or you've wasted £1500 on a nice lens. |
Well it made me laugh.

Before I open a can of worms

this is my take on the UV filter and protecting the lens.
I would never dream of putting a UV filter in front of a lens, never mind one as good as this.
Why would you pay all that money on such a good bit of glass then stick a cheap filer on it.
In my opinion the lens hood is good enough for protection.
Funny enough just been stop by a bloke on the street and he has just brought a 40d and asked me how I was getting on with it. He was amazed that I don't use a uv filter ( at the time had the 50mm on) told him why I never used one and the 50 mm is the only lens I don't have a hood for.
I know other people swear by them, and have even read that you should use then in mags

. Just not for me.
Cheers Holo
