D5000 - remotely fire a SB-800?

Not been using my DSLR much recently and figured an upgrade might get me fired up again.
So, thinking of upgrading my D80 to a D5000 but cant seem to get a clear answer to whether the D5000 will allow me to position my SB-800 off camera and fire it remotely without any additional bits.

Some reviews of the D5000 mention that it does not have the commander mode but the Nikon site states 'Advanced Wireless Lighting supported with built-in flash'.

Can anyone here confirm either way?
TIA.

Re: D5000 - remotely fire a SB-800?

Can't confirm but using knowledge of previous entry level range Nikon DSLRs, I'd be 99% sure that it won't.

CLS will be limited to D90 or above - the prosumer/enthusiast through to advanced/semi pro. It is odd that the full on Pro bodies don't support it though but if you have that much money to spend on a D3/D3x, then I'm sure you can afford the Su-800 or Sb-900 etc.

The D5000 does not have built in commander mode, you have to go up to the D90 to get it, or buy a SU 800.

Re: D5000 - remotely fire a SB-800?

Thanks for the replies - not what I was hoping to hear - but thanks - the D5000 would have been perfect for my needs. The D90 is too much extra to justify the upgrade from a D80. And I do like using the SB-800 off camera for family portraits - really makes a difference.

Cheers!
