Anyone used this company lately?

I have purchased a few lenses and bits and bobs for HK based onestop-digital.

It now been a while since buying anything and wondered if anyone has purchased anything from them lately?

I know with the credit crunch and all the £ against all other currencies has changed but they still have some good deals..... Tamron 17-50 F2.8 Sony fit is way cheaper than here.

So, anyone used them lately?

Cheers

I've used them a few times recently with no problems. Delivery is lightning fast from HK.

Always fund purchase via a credit card. PayPal is VERY limited and long winded if an issue occurs (unless funds are sourced from a CC). With a CC you at least can get a chargeback and your purchase is insured.

If you never use a CC generally, it's vital for online purchases. You have no online protection with a DC.

Onestop 'payment gateway' is Paypal.

I have doubt in this situation CC would be liable, as the transaction for CC is CC to Paypal only but I can be wrong (i.e. What CC has bought you is money credit in paypal).

But yes, in general CC is much safer.

Hi Pirate,

How do?

I don't use Paypal and don't use any credit cards. I have in the past got a 2% discount and then deposited the money into there account at a branch of the HSBC getting a receipt for the deposit. The contact Onestop with the transaction details.

Has worked ok before but it has been a while.

The Tamron 17-50 F2.8 I can get for £245 with the 2% discount versus £333 in the UK at Warehouse Express. So its a fair old drop of the UK price. And OS have the Sony fitment.

So unless anyone has a price near that in the UK I would be better just getting it from OS. Only warning flags are with the warranty.................not sure what the position is with that......being it would have been purchased in HK and not the UK.

Cheers Pirate

Ahoy Icedude!

Intro 2020 are the UK importers of Tamron. Ping them an email to check UK warranty for lenses sourced from non-EU countries.

It doesn't cost anyting to ask via email . . . .

The answer will be that the warranty is not valid in the UK however they will service/repair the lens but it will cost you.

Re: Anyone used this company lately?

It is a bit like UK high street looses some business to UK internet retailer, UK internet retailer looses some business to international internet retailer.

local high street warranty vs uk mail away warranty vs international mail away warranty.

Take your pick, hope for the best.

Re: Anyone used this company lately?

Just to update:

Ordered Friday evening, shipped Monday morning from HK and with me Wednesday morning.

Price included tax if there will be any. (As long as they honour the tax rebate promise)

Camera appears to be for japanese market originally.

If there is any future problem, will keep update, meanwhile .
