Having read a number of the threads on here, I'm hoping that some of you knowledgeable people may be able to give me steer.
I've been asked to investigate setting up a national online photography circle/club. This is part of something larger so we cannot muscle in on something that already exists. People already pay a club membership, so may not be inclined to pay for smugmuf for example unless they have an account already.
I've looked at some of the obvious sites out there (flickr, smugmug, pbase etc) already and am confused. I know my requirement but it's difficult finding something that meets them all. If I let you know what they are then perhaps you could adivse?
Hosting site:
- Must – logon on under own username
- Must – upload own images
- Must – upload own tech spec / comments
- Must – upload comments on others’ photos
- Must – able to have more than one Circle running at a time
- Must – able to publish marks and league tables
- Desirable – run a notebook
- Desirable – free or cheap site but ‘professional’ looking site worth outlay
- Desirable – free account
- Desirable – strips EXIF data
The alternative is to use our own website but obviously the posting of images and comments is not as 'professional' as a site dedicated to that type of use.
So, are there any sites that meet the majority of these? What would you suggest?
Any help/tips/comments will be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Wobs
