Canon G7 fault

Hi,

Can any of you guys help please?

Canon PowerShot G7 has stopped loading up to take pictures, I can use the viewer of older images and settings fine but switching to camera mode the lens only comes out so far...

I don't think it's a hardware fault as trying certain buttons it does extended fully and then retracts...

Can I load the firmware in the camera again? I think it's a fault in the software..
