Re: Crazy Cameras

Now, I'm suspicious by nature, but I find it far too much of a coincidence that I get a phone call from CC within 30 mins of e-mail cancelling order and warning that if refund is not actioned that credit card company will take action, and yet the caller did not know I had attempted to cancel order - she was just phoning to verify invoice address. What??? So I hear nothing at all confirming order (no e-mail even), and then as soon as I cancel I get this call?
Maybe I'm wrong and the order of events has just transpired to make the whole thing look a bit iffy... Anyway, refund should be actioned so we'll see what happens next...

Re: Crazy Cameras

Sarah, I got many E Mails from CC, mostly out of Sync. Whenever I logged in on their website it told a whole different story! After a few irate phone calls to them and e mails quoting distance selling regulations, trading standards etc etc, they began to sit up and take notice.

Although I got the first lot of money back on my card fairly quickly, it took 3 weeks till I got the second amount back.

Anyone who encounters the same problem as I had (first transaction page dropping out but was processed anyway) check your credit card transactions soon as you can!

Although all is now resolved for me, it was an infuriating 3 weeks.

I know this won't help some of you right now but I've found an even better deal for the camera I wanted on Amazon. £25 cheaper, free delivery and a camera case thrown in. We just have to remember......if we find a bargain buy that sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

Re: Crazy Cameras

Report them to trading standards. I may have got all my money back but wouldn't have been the case had I not used my credit card. I'm going to report them anyway.

Re: Crazy Cameras

Ok peeps i have some good news.
I ordered one of these Crazy Cameras - Nikon Coolpix S560 10MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Vibration Reduction (VR) Zoom with 2.7 inch LCD (Graphite Black) for my mrs. Didnt read any shop reviews so was very worried when realised this shop is in america.
After i ordered i didnt get any emails for like a 5 days so i though i was ripped off. But then i got email saying that order has been passed onto their warehouse and next day it was sent via DHL to me (London). It took about 3 days to get to me and best bit about it i didnt have to pay any import vat

Re: Crazy Cameras

Urghh..I fell for this too.

It's my birthday next week, and I really wanted to buy a film scanner. Checked the prices for the Nikon Coolscan V ED, and Crazy Cameras was the cheapest. I bought it on Monday for £550.
It was totally my fault that I didn't check reviews of the website before I ordered the stuff. I was a total idiot, of course. Felt sick to my stomach when I saw some of the dismal discussions about the website.

Of course, I tried to cancel my order, but to no avail.

I phoned up Barclaycards, and said that I had just ordered goods online, but that now I think the company is not legit. They told me that the payment had already gone through, and that there was nothing they could do at that moment. They said that they WILL cover (whew) the money, but only if the goods don't arrive or if things get really fishy.

Then on Tuesday, Crazy Cameras phoned up, and asked me to confirm my address, which they had, and my email address. I did this. I then said that I was now very dubious my goods would arrive at all, after looking at various support groups on the web. I asked him for an absolute guarantee that my filmscanner would arrive intact.

His reply was that the complaints were "from our competitors, and that we guarantee delivery up to seven days after the payment has cleared".

But he then asked me to confirm my credit card details over the phone, which I felt was exceedingly fishy. I stalled, and said that I didn't have the details with me. He said he would phone back in an hour.

I immediately called my credit card company again, who confirmed that you should never under any circumstances give your credit card details out over the phone. They said that there was no reason for them to ask for them at all, and that if they phoned back, I should tell them I spoke with a bank representative, and that they wanted to know why they needed the details confirmed over the phone.

Of course, he didn't phone back, and I've not heard a peep out of Crazy Cameras since. So I guess now I have to wait, and see if the filmscanner turns up at all. I doubt it. I'll update you guys on the conclusion.

Re: Crazy Cameras

And the Canon D30 - a 9 year old camera - for a shade under £3 grand.

39 of them in stock apparently - they might have a job shifting those... if they exist at all.

Pls try and express your opinion of the company without attacking anybody. It derails the thread and is very possibly unfair
Pls do not post on here what you wouldn't be happy to say to anyone in person
There is a thread about a company in the camcorders forum where folk have managed to expressed differing opinions without getting personal

I don't see anyone posting verifiable experience with Crazy Cameras that reflects a positive experience.

There is too much evidence on the other side (This forum, facebook and other forums). I remain convinced these guys are fraudsters of teh highest order.

Please, if you agree, be vocal about it
Im not defending CC but it is more usual for people to post negative , not positive experiences online.. Even in customer satisfaction surveys , how many folk bother to say.. we had great service?

By all means be vocal about your negative experiences ,
but
1) dont attack other posters just because their stated experience differs from yours
2) Opinions are one thing , verifiable attacks are another.. there are libel laws which we have to be mindful of
3) Actually Matt2002s post was ultimately warning folk off the company and didnt deserve to be attacked because it wasnt all out negative

Re: Crazy Cameras

They phoned up again yesterday, asking for credit card confirmation yet again. I refused to hand them over the phone, and they hung up. I'm getting more and more suspicious, and more and more doubtful that my film scanner will ever come.
Interestingly, the stock list on their website for the film scanner has now increased. Whereas on places like Amazon.co.uk they are totally out of stock. That should of been a warning sign...

Best of luck there

Very worring

I also (personally ) get wary when companies are quick to blame rivals for any complaints about thier services rather than take each complaint on its own merit and try and address individuals concerns: This is of course my own personal opinion
If you paid by CC to start with why do they need a phone confirmation of details especially as the money has already gone and you have not yet asked them for a refund

Re: Crazy Cameras

I know I'm a newb, but thought I'd offer my 2 cents to the discussion.

I tried to place an order for a Nikon P90 with Crazy Cameras a week ago. I was very lucky though. The order was declined by my credit company twice -- not because my credit is bad, but because Crazy Cameras is flagged by MBNA as an unknown non-UK based company and high risk site for fraudulent transactions. I was told I could get a form filled in to be authorised but having read this I'm glad I didn't!!!

From reading back what has been written here, I may also steer clear of Bitesize Deals which was to be my second choice for a cheap P90 .... guess I may have to be a little less tight with my cash if I'm to upgrade ....

Angry Re: Crazy Cameras

Crazy Cameras SUCK!!!!!!!!

I ordered a Canona G10 (361 pounds) on the 18th of june and i really wish i had not bothered .. after a few days i was starting to get impatient because it clearly states on the website that orders are shipped in 24-48 hours and still i had no sign of shipment in my order status and so i messaged them to see what was going on and i recieved this (now familliar message after read through these threads) on the 23rd of june :

"Hi Mr. Witting,

We are so sorry for the error. We just noticed we have a major problem with our distributors linking into our systems and have only now seen the full extent of the problem. We should have this fully resolved within the next 72 hours meaning we can have your products to you within 1 week. If that is not acceptable to you, we can cancel your order and refund your card immediately. we can also send you a discount coupon for a future purchase should you choose to try us again. Once again, we are truly very sorry for the inconvenience.

Please let us know if you need further assistance.

Thanks!
Sincerely,
Crazy Camera

Customer Support Team."

Now i thought thats **** but i still want my camera so be it ..

so then on the 26th of june out of the blue i recieved:

"Your order was recently cancelled. If this is in error please contact us at support@crazycameras.co.uk.
Charges to your card will take 5-7 days to process."

i did not even cancel my oreder and i questioned this and asked them why it was cancelled .. i recieved this :

"We have canceled your order due to we can't reach you for the last 7 days. We would like you to know that it is our company policy to call all of our customers for verification before we process orders. The reason of this is we are protecting our customers from any fraudulent activity."

So at this point i was just thinking , ok this place is a circus and i will wait for the refund and break out while i can ...bearing in mind the order was cancelled and already supposedly processed on the 26th... on the 29th i asked them if they could tell me when my funds would be in my bank , because they should know this right? ... they replied saying

"Refunds usually takes 5 - 7 working days depending on our bank on how long they process refunds. Please expect the refund back to your account within several working days."

It is now the 6th of july and i went into the bank today and nothing is even being processed ... i am disgusted with the service and very concerned that i have been ripped , i sent an email today saying this:

" .ExternalClass .EC_hmmessage P{padding:0px;}.ExternalClass body.EC_hmmessage{font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;}
Dear Crazy Camera's ,

Today i have been to the bank and still my money is not in there?? so i asked to speak with an advisor at the bank and they told me nothing is even being processed in my account ... this is absolutely disgusting, i can not begin to tell you how appauled i am at the way you have treated me... i have been advised to tell you that if you do not pay my money into my account immediately it will be put to the fault department and you will have action taken against you. Beyond that if you do not sort this out i will also be writing to watchdog, and a number of newspapers, and i will set up a forum warning people not to do business with your company.. its a shame it has come to this but you are a circus and it was bad enough i couldnt even simply order the camera, now you cant even manage to process my funds back into my account?/ what type of people are running this place??

thankyou,
Mr. Witting

P.s i have prints of all our communication and trading standards will be stepping in .. i want my money!!!!!!!!!!!! "

i have sent this email to them 3 times now to make sure they get it (lol) and still no reply ... i wish i had looked on this forum before dealing with those scammers .. i feeling like i have been raped

Please , can anybody tell me a good story about problems being resolved?? Oh and i dont mean somebody who works for crazy Cameras writing a ******** post to try and save face .. we are way past the point of reconcilliation .

Re: Crazy Cameras

Still no sign of my film scanner, and no more correspondance from Crazy Cameras.

I tried their Online Support Chat thing, but was greeted with a "This Department is Currently Unavailable" message. So I sent them this email:

Quote:
Hello,
I ordered my film scanner on the 29th of June, and not even the first order process, dated 30th of June, is complete.
It is now the 7th of July. You guaranteed I would get it in seven days time, so where is my order?
The order number is XXXXXX.

On Tuesday the 30th of June I received a phone call from one of your employees. He asked me to confirm my email and home address. This I did. He guaranteed me that my order will arrive under seven days from whence I ordered it. He then asked me to give him my credit card details over the telephone.

I immediately phoned up my bank and they explicitly told me not under ANY circumstances to give my credit card details to you over the phone. They have looked at their order history, and they have told me that you already have the confirmed credit card details, as the payment has already gone through, and that there was absolutely no reason for you to ask for them again. They advised me that asking for credit card details over the telephone is extreamly suspicious behaviour.

Be aware that all correspondance I have with this company is being forwarded directly to my bank. They will start a fraud investigation if you do not deliver the goods and do not refund my money.

Again; where are my goods, why is there absolutely no evidence that it is being processed, according to the Online Order History?

Thank you.
Will update if I get anything back.
Urgh.

Re: Crazy Cameras

thanks alot for giving us this info ... these guys are either frauds or at best the most incompetent company i have ever had to deal with in my lif .. i sent another email to crazy cameras this morning simply say:

"You do realise that you are trackable by the police and obtaining money by fraud and deception is a custodial sentence?? "

this (after not getting any reply at all yesterday , and i sent them about 5 emails) finally got a reply funnily enough saying :

Hi Mr. Witting.

Thank you for your feedback.

You can log on to our website, We help make memories - Crazy Cameras and check all the detail in regards with our company profile. We are legit company. Most customers choose to purchase from us because of our competitive price. We haven't fully resolved our system errors yet, that is why your refund is still in process. We will send an email to our processing department regarding your refund, and put an urgency note in your account and send you an email after we get their instructions. Once again we apologize for the inconvenience.

Please let us know if you have more questions.

Sincerely,
Crazy Cameras
Customer Support Team

But still i am by no means convinced.. quite the opposite ... i feel like i have been Raped ...

Thanks again for your feedback, please keep me up to date to see if they come through with the goods or even contact you, and i will do the same.

Cheers

Urgh.
here is my latest message to Crazy Cameras:

Crazy Cameras,

I expect an email today telling me when exactly when my money is going into my account ... i find it very strange that you are able to take my money instantly and then you cant even get it back into my account in three weeks ??

i have everything in place ready to start an investigation, this is your last chance to come through with my money ... then the police and trading standards will be notified.

there are a number of reasons i am suspicious of your company .. one being that you have a "co.uk" web address when you are based in america... two being DHL have never even heard of crazy cameras .. now if you go under a different name, then i would like to know what that is so i can call DHL and Verify that you even exist.
Anybody can set up a website claiming to have items in stock ... and the more i read on the net in forums, all i see is people not recieving their goods, or their money like me , you really can not treat people like this, and believe me when i say, i will not rest until i have got to the bottom of this no matter what it takes, where i have to go, i will do it.

Again, i have all of our communication stored which is viable for use as evidence in court.

Re: Crazy Cameras

Sorry if this bucks the trend, but I placed an order with CC for a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 L IS USM Lens costing £1190 on 25th June. Only then saw this forum with all the negative feedback and feared the worst. I phoned the helpline after a couple of days expecting the music/engaged tone and was very surprised that the call was answered by a lady. I quoted my order number and she confirmed it would be shipped within 5-7 working days as promised on the website. I then received an e-mail on the 2nd July stating the order had been sent to the warehouse, another on the 3rd July stating the item had been shipped and another quoting a DHL Tracking number which also worked. My item was then delivered on Monday 6th July, 7 working days after I sent the order.

I appreciate this must be infuriating for some of you, but I think that in the name of fairness that I should share this with you and say that from my perspective, my order has been sent as expected.

However, I do appreciate that they are a very unprofessional outfit and the phone call to verify the credit card details left me very suspicious also. Luckily for me, things have worked out.

It would appear CC are conducting business in a far from praiseworthy way judging from the posts so far
however
What harm would come from giving the above poster the benefit of doubt ?

Re: Crazy Cameras

you seem quick to step in any time there is somebody doubting the identity of a poster Senu .. you did it on an earlier post, and i only posted 10 minutes before you popped up .. is it coinsidence that you just happened to look in the forum? or is it that you are the same person? otherwise how did you know i had replied to the other guy? And just because you say a few slightly negative words against CC to throw us off the sent, dont think for a second you can fool me ...

Action is being taken, and the so called owners of CC , (if found to be guilty of fraud, and i dont get my money back, and people dont get there items they have orderd and paid for) will be going to prison for a long time!

I moderate this forum and have no affiliation or allegiance to CC . I did not post anything as I dont even know the company . I only urge some "moderation" in tone ,language and ask you to substantiate some of what you state
I actually read all the posts along with Zone ( and mark them as checked) and rarely comment on any Im not interested apart fom moderating purposes
There is a posibility that the positive posts are "planted" but it is also possible they are genuine
I do not really wish to edit or delete any posts, but where appopriate , I can
My job here ( if you like) is to keep the thread relevant and prevent it going off course by ignoring Someone attacking someone else's post

FWIW I do have a full time quite time consuming ( and tiring ) Job as an NHS Consultant so if I happen to catch your post after a busy 14 hr day in Hospital ( such as I had today) it is pure coincidence

Re: Crazy Cameras

ok, i apologise to you, i did not know you were a moderater, that explaines your posts', and the context of them.

I am just very angered at CC and i have seen "Planters" and the only people writing positive feedback in here are the people who's stories dont add up.

I agree with senu, sparky was just giving a fairly positive experience. We could ask him/her to post a picture to prove he received the lens from CC, but that would be going a bit too far. . He even ended on a note saying the company is unprofessional and suspicious, I don't think CC would say that.

Anyway Radioheadonist I know you must be fuming and hope you get it sorted out soon. The sooner this company goes down the pan, the better.
