Nikkor 10-24 Lens

Noticed this, apologies I did do a search on the forum but couldn't find much mentioned about it :

Nikon UK - Products - Catalogue - NIKKOR Lenses - DX - AF-S DX NIKKOR 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED - Overview

Strikes me as a lot of money around £799 certainly for a DX lens when compared to around £490 for the tokina 11-16 2.8

Re: Nikkor 10-24 Lens

It's a brand new lens announced by Nikon (not released yet AFAIK) so there will not be much known about it at this time. I'm sure it'll be cheaper than the MSRP when it is released.

Re: Nikkor 10-24 Lens

I wouldn't be surprised if that price was to stick actually. The 12-24 DX lens that it is replacing is approximately the same price - which since the price hike - is between 750/800. I'm sure the lens is an improvement on its predecessor but I see it as a like-for-like swap really, with Nikon phasing the old model out.

If prices begin to go down again, it may drop to the old price of the old lens - I remember seeing the 12-24 for around 550 pounds. But who knows how long that will take.

If you are looking to get a Tokina and you can get at 490 I would not hang about. When I tried to buy in the UK the Nikon fit at at that price was not in stock anywhere. Plus I was told by my local camera shop that the price is going up soon, if not by now. I have to say I very pleased with the one I got in Bangkok for 440
