Thanks: Gave 29, Got 21 | Downsizing - best bag for SLR & single lens (18-200)?
Hi all,
Off on honeymoon in August and will be doing a fair amount of travelling, so I've picked up a Nikon 18-200VR to fit to my D50 to save my lugging around an 18-70 and 70-300VR (the 18-70 DX is currently for sale in the classifieds if anyone's interested )
As my Slingshot AW200 will be too big, does anyone have any recommendations for a good small bag in which I can fit the D50 with 18-200 lens, preferably with room for a single spare battery and possibly an SB-400?
TIA!

2 x 1210s + DJM600 + Serato || D50 + 10-20mm + 50mm F1.8 + 18-200VR + 70-300VR + SB400 ||
And a whole load of kitesurfing equipment for windy days.... |

Im off on Honeymoon in August, I have a 18-200VR and a Slingshot bag that too big for carting around (plus a target for pickpockets ).
Im looking for a 'day trip' bag that can fit the D300+lens, SB-600, and a Panasonic SD9..... |

No sure how it compares in size to your slingshot, but I just got one of these. The main access is through the back so pickpocket proof if you like. Lowepro - Primus AW
There is a seller doing them on the bay for £49.95 as opposed to jessops that charge £176. I got mine the next day from them, great service.

why not just step down to a Lowepro AW100? I have one and it is perfect for a single body and lens with some room for a small additional lens (50 mm for me) and some room for other stuff in the top (normally nappies ). I am in the opposite situation wanting a slightly, but not much, larger day pack!

Larger daypack - have you looked at the slingshot 300? It is big.....

Just want some protection around the camera & lens when needed, something that hangs off my belt would be a bonus. This little badboy looks like it could be pretty handy - just had a read of some reviews and it looks like my body & lens will fit....

I used one of these: Case Logic SLR Zoom Camera Holster - SLRC-1Z
Link: Case Logic SLR Zoom Camera Holster > Photo and Video > Case Logic
This held my Nikon D80 - Nikkor 18-200 VR - spare battery - SB400 flash and other bits with ease, and the design of it gives a lot of protection to your camera.

I should add that there was no room for a neck strap attached to the camera, that was not a problem for me as I do not use one.
