Have Canon stopped the EF-S 18-55 IS ?

Hi,

Was just browsing the Canon website (UK) browsing lenses and noticed that the EF-S 18-55 IS was notable by its absence !

The lineup is here: Canon Zoom Lenses EF Lenses - Canon UK

If they really have stopped it, what will they ship with the likes of the 450D/1000D et al ?

Re: Have Canon stopped the EF-S 18-55 IS ?

I think they may just be a bit lax about putting in IS.

They don't have the IS written with the 70-200 F4L or 70-200 F2.8L but the prices quoted are the srp for the IS versions. (unless prices have gone up that ridiculously!)

Re: Have Canon stopped the EF-S 18-55 IS ?

I wondered that too, but, they used to list the IS version (at least I think they did) and following the link shows a picture of the non IS version and it says it is specifically for the 300D.

I guess they could be in the process of updating the website and just messed it up. I must admit, it wouldn't make sense to me to discontinue the EF-S 18-55IS. Either way I guess time will tell.

Cheers,

John

Can't see them stopping it as it's leaps and bounds better than the older 18-55 kit lens
