Panasonic DMC-TZ5 - opinions?

Hi there,

I'm on the search for a compact camera of a good quality with a good zoom. I've been looking at the Panasonic TZ5; do any of you have any opinions of it?

Thank you.

Re: Panasonic DMC-TZ5 - opinions?

Hi Paul,

This camera has received very favourable reviews. I bought one on saturday to complement my Panasonic bridge camera. It is larger than compacts by, say, Canon, but I find it very comfortable to hold and easy to operate. The build quality and 3" screen are excellent, and the 10x zoom is very handy.
Panasonic's cameras are often criticised for producing noisy images espcialy in low light, but this is usually under examination at 100%. I took it out for the first time today and was delighted with the quality of the images. I have printed at A4 and seen no noise.
It is generally an automatic camera, though you can tinker with white balance, ISO and exposure compensation depending on which setting the camera is using.

I think it is well worth considering.

Darren

Re: Panasonic DMC-TZ5 - opinions?

I've owned one of these for a few months Paul, and in my opinion it's really superb - so good in fact that I sometimes wonder if I really need my DSLR! I certainly take a lot more photos with it than with the latter.

It's obviously not as flexible as a DSLR but it's Intelligent Auto setting is just so smart I tend to leave it on that position almost exclusively.

Highly recommended!

Re: Panasonic DMC-TZ5 - opinions?

Thank you both for your replies. After lots of research over the last couple of hours I have decided to purchase it! I don't know if you've seen my other post but I'm going to Iceland in a few weeks, hopefully the TZ5 will give us some great shots!
