How do you store your images

As the title suggest, I ask this cause I transfered some of my photo's to DVD from my hard drive but when I went to look at them later they weren't there, I know they were sent to disc cause I watched them being sent and you could see that the disc had been burnt to.

So got me thinking if I had some files that were important and the same thing happens what would I do, so as the title ask. Thanks in advance

Why doesn't my link say 'Flickr' like Tonkie's?

Re: How do you store your images

I store all mine on my NAS (Buffalo Terrastation Live) which has RAID to ensure that I shouldn't lose all those precious memories if one (possibly two) drive(s) fails...

... of course if the house burns down then I'm screwed still :-/ but hopefully that's a lot less likely than a drive failure!

Re: How do you store your images

Three separate HD's one only ever gets turned on once a month for backup then off again, i used to backup to disk and HD but found one day that all the disks were corrupt, never again.

Re: How do you store your images

I back them up to two hard drives in my main machine, one hard drive in the Media PC, and then export the best ones to Picasa, full size.

I also do an occasional back up to DVD, which I give to my Dad.

The number of people who never back up their digital images amazes me. It is one of the few things you can never replace.
