I am looking to downsize from my D80 but as I do indoor family photos I want to keep my SB-800 flash and use it with a P6000 (I hate shadows in my photos).
I have read loads of reviews on the P6000 but most seem to rate the G10 and LX3 higher. But I would be interested in real user feedback..
Thanks in advance. |
When mine works it works very well indeed and does take pretty good photos
BUT alas it must have some sort of fault because although I have treated it kindly and even fed it a firmware update in an attempt to solve its problems .. by no means an easy process .... it continues to have trouble booting up and I frequently have had to use the ' get out of this quick ' awkward solution to system faults, auto focus faults, lens freeze and every other sort of weird default message which is to up-end the camera and momentarily release the battery from its housing return the same to its locked in position and then switch camera on again .. I've sometimes needed to do it 3 times before the camera will function. This technique is actually mentioned in the instruction manual but I didn't realize that I'd have to use it on a routine basis.
Basically what it amounts to is that whatever the cameras spec or review history my - brand new and in sealed packaging - camera is totally un-reliable and unless the manufacturer can offer some sort of solution then I've made a serious mistake in buying from an e bay dealer rather than a local shop since I'm going to have to find the time to pursue the dealer for redress.
Now its entirely possible that I have a rogue camera but my overall impression is that whilst the camera has a nice feel to it and sits in the hands very well and whilst it does have a huge
theoretical capability it is far too complicated for everyday use and that the root of the problems that I'm having may well lie in the integration of very complicated software in a very small space. In retrospect I should have chosen something simpler.
