Thanks: Gave 0, Got 0 | best possible photo printer?
Does anyone know the best printer, laser or inkjet, I can get for photoshop images? Price not important, just sharp images with excellent colour representation. Any suggestions appreciated.

If your thinking large format, up to 60", then you may want to look at some of the professional printers like the Canon iPF9100, a snip at ~£10,000, plus inks are only about £200 each (it takes 12).
Joking aside, you may want to refine your question a little You might be best off telling us what sort of sizes you want to print?

Thanks for replying dfrear - I need A4 size for small amounts of work. I'm reproducing artwork so need top quality coulour. I guess laser is better than inkjet for this?

That's the kind of thing your after Barry what Vulkan is selling. If your looking to sell your artwork this is the kind of printer you need that has fade resistant ink IMO.
If you were doing photo's I'd probably suggest for small production just outsourcing the printing to a professional company but with artwork you'll no doubt have a bit of fun with colour matching the artwork to the print output so could pay dividends having your own printer for proofing.

Looks very appropriate for what I need Vulkan, the best option I've seen so far. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks a lot for your help guys, I'm a lot clearer now on what I need. By the way dazza, I've looked at outsourcing thanks but it is sooo much more expensive! And you are right, having my own printer I'm in total control of the process. Regards.

For A4 printing only and no intention of going to A3 sizes, keep to A4 printers and save the money for ink.
Personal preference but the best printer I've had by far is a Canon Ipixima5000. Absolutely stunning pictures and cheap to run. Epsoms have given me so much grief in the past I will never go near one again, no matter how good they are. Heads block, pictures smearing, misaligement all the time grrr. Yet others rate them the best.

It's like expecting a Nikon D40 to be made in the same way as a D3x.
