Which Compact Camera ?

I'm looking to buy a compact camera in the £120 to £150 range, I've read endless threads and web reviews often contradictory which has only made it more difficult to make up my mind.

I've narrowed the choices down to:

Panasonic FS5
Panasonic FX35
Canon Ixus 80
Canon Ixus 90
Nikon S560

What are peoples experiences good or bad with these cameras ? any recommendations ?

Re: Which Compact Camera ?

The Pamasonic TZ5 is very highly rated as a compact. But both the Pannys you have mentioned there are good as are the Canons, depends what your looking for.

Re: Which Compact Camera ?

I have an Lumix FX 35 and found it to be the best digital compact camera out there. It was the perfect camera for me, mainly because of the great wide angle lens (25mm - the widest of any compact cam), the excellent HD video and it's tiny size.

Highly recommended!

Re: Which Compact Camera ?

CNET rates the Lumix DMC-FX37 highly, its a bit less bulky than the TZ5 and you can pick it up for around £160 now

Re: Which Compact Camera ?

A friend of mine just got the Canon Ixus 82 and loves it! It takes really good quality photos and she rates it very highly.

Re: Which Compact Camera ?

Hi,

Sorry to hijak the thread but thought better than to start a new one.

I own a Sony A200 which is obviously my camera for everything, but I do not wish to take it to parties or anywhere it could get damaged obviously, so I was looking for a point and shoot as a secondary.

I think I like the TZ5 because of its wide angle and obviously its incredible zoom. What puts me off is poor iso performance and maybe the size?

I need something thats going to perform well in the dark, for when im at a party or out at night. I have used a few of my friends compacts around the £100 mark and when the pics come out theyre usually poor quality. Its not like its noise, its there is massive lines.

I know im not going to get DSLR quality but I want something under £200 that can be mainly used at night when out, but also be great if I dont have my SLR to hand and I see a great shot I wanna get.
