A200 Bigginers Shots

First shots with a new camera by a newby to the forum just experimenting on loading photos etc. On a dull grey day all I wanted was a few rays of sunshine!

Camera is a Sony A200 I will add more detail as I learn the procedure.

Re: A200 Bigginers Shots

Ahoy!

Keep taking pictures. #1 is pretty 'grey' as opposed to B&W. #2 . . . no comment, #3 OK (I would've cropped it to bring out the leaf and frost detail), #4, no comment. Would be useful to view EXIF data when posting. #4 looks OOF or too slow shutter speed.

That's much better. A bit of tonal range makes a lot of difference!

Hey, we're all family here. Now that looks better don't you think? PP is an art form in itself. Some here on AVF are quite adept at the craft (wish I knew *** I was doing at times).

Welcome new Alphamale, enjoy your new 'tool' and keep posting. Don't forget the monthly photo comp. There are enough Alpha owners here now to advise if you have queries or questions. I was in a minority of one, but it seems to have grown in time.

I'm not an expert, Sony booster or guru BTW, just a user.

Re: A200 Bigginers Shots

That's a hell of a lot better. Much sharper and good colours too.

You don't however need an aperture as high as f10 for that sort of shot. Try bringing it down to 4 or 5 and you'll find you get a much nicer depth of field and the bonus is you don't need as much light to take the picture.

Re: A200 Bigginers Shots

Cheers Dave,
At the moment I'm just taking loads and then filtering them, all experimentation it's not easy walking the dog and taking photos of him at the same time. Just getting familiar with what the modern camera can do it’s a steep learning curve from my Olympus Trip I have been using. This site has become a “must” read on a daily basis so many brilliant photos and fantastic ideas (oh and ways to spend more money)
Thanks for the comment (it’s the only way to learn)

Pirate and Granty TVM too I'll get there

Re: A200 Bigginers Shots

bleep12345, I'll let you in to a little secret.

For every hundred shots I take, there's probably 1 or 2 that I consider good enough to post on my flickr.

I'm sure I'm not alone here and I don't think a photographer exists that gets every other shot spot on. The best way of learning is to take pictures so get out there and do it.

As for the money angle, I've spent about twice as much on lenses and accessories as I did on the bloody camera.
