Ok, this is the latest shot at Edinburgh winterland and German market celebrations....... Taken with kit lens and A200. Any comments ........although I think it could have been better...........
Didn't get bothered by stewards either although they glanced my way I gave them a steel eyed stare right back and did NOT back down!!! 
Anyway, A bit of a weird take on the shot but.......

I like the composition and the colours of the wheel but not sure on the grain effect as looks a bit like noise. Do you have the original for comparison?
Good going with the stewards btw, they obviously havent had the "all photographers are terrorists / perverts" briefing yet  | |

Yeah I definately prefer the original too, I thought the one you posted looked like odd noise.

Ahoy!
I know 'we' are in the minority here (Sonolta), but it would be good for A200 owners to put up a review or at least a brief of their findings as there are many looking to enter the dSLR market on a budget. It would seem that the entry level A200 is quite a capable tool and appears that new users are becoming quite adept.
I'm not going down the 'mine is better than yours' road, but to me at least, there seems to be an increasing number of Alpha A200/300/350 owners on this forum.
Maybe I'm not alone . . . .

Looks pretty cool to me also!
Yes I have noticed a load of new Sony users to this forum.
Not so long ago I was the ONLY one on this forum with an A700. Now there are lots! 
BTW - When I have more time on my hands I'll post a hands on review of the A900 (not that I have much more to say that Pete has already said!). Haven't had much of a chance to get out and shoot the last two weeks (or months for that matter!), but when I do I'll most some more samples | |

Did you use the A700 VG? Just sourced an Asian version (with grip sensor) under 1 year old for £110.00 :o)

That's Piracy for you! | I did, 'a little'. It's really well designed as the second set of controls have the same 'feeling' as the primary set (i.e. the 'controls spacing' is the same)
Fantastic for portraits, but it does feel bit to carry around and is not exactly invisable. Probably not going to get a grip for the A900 as I didn't use it enough TBH - but I know so many people who can't live without them.
Hope you get on with it. I reserve the right to change my mind about the grip and A900 If I send up doing more portraits, that might be a deciding factor.

A review would be good but more of a collabration would be better because most A200 users are new to DSLR's and if like me photography with a purpose in general.
I found the unofficial sony alpha thread useful when purchasing my A200 and it is highly regarded for what it is.
They seem expensive when you first get one, but when you start buying lenses and you look at high end camera you think.....wow it was really a bargain.
I will stick to the rule though, it doesn't matter what camera you have, if the person behind it is no good it won't perform miracles, however if a good photographer is behind a cheap P&S they can still get good shots.

Have to agree after the comments that the original is the better image. Maybe I am getting to techi and tryin to hard with some of these night shots.
As for comments on the A200. I don't yet feel qualified to do that. I will however commit in saying from what I have achieved in a short time, and hope to do better the longer I use it, the A200 Sony is a great piece of kit for anybody starting out. Even someone who is accomplished will enjoy this camera.
Only advice I would give is read the manual and get away from the Auto setting soon as possible but above all enjoy it.

I'm about to join the "A200 club" (Xmas pressie waiting for me in Seattle  touch wood)
Everything I've read about this camera has been favourable (and seen thanks to icemanonline) so I'm VERY excited to have the chance to use an SLR again, well DSLR, my last SLR was the Pentax MX (loved this) but have been using snappers for years now, and the only digital I've had is my beloved Minolta F200 
I'm taking pics all day in a studio with mother digi backs so it'll be nice to take something "good" again rather than hit and hope with my little F200 (I do love it you know!!!)
