Seasonal Robin

First outing with the new 100-300 f/4 (thanks to Tobers) - terrible lighting so had to bump up the ISO resulting in some pretty noisy images but pleased with a few.

Not such a good photo but nice to catch him with dinner:

Re: Seasonal Robin

Yeah number 2 is my fave too, the berries are good and the background is cleaner.

Have actually just been watching my resident robin in the back garden - what is it about them that is SO endearing?!

Re: Seasonal Robin

Number 2 is the best for me as well Is the original to stand up to some cropping to remove some of the branches to the left of the bird?

Re: Seasonal Robin

Im not sure it'll stand up to much more cropping, its a reasonable crop as it is - but can't hurt to try! I also thought the 2nd one was the best, easily the best of the bunch (for that day anyway).

Just need to work on my long lens technique and maybe get myself a monopod as this lens is quite a heavy beast! Hand-held at 300mm is difficult.

Re: Seasonal Robin

No.1 for me... good colours... 3 isn't working, i think a bit busy and the Robin is lost a little against the background - overall, nice!

Re: Seasonal Robin

Yea 3 was just put there for interest's sake really - the fact that he had a worm. He was quite high up in a cliff face actually with moss growing behind him. I was lucky to get anything usable really!
