Attracting Flickr comments...

Just wondered how people attract any comments for their Flickr postings. Obviously they have to have some merit and interest....but I've seen lots of comments and thought, "yes, but not that good..."
Is it a question of smart tagging ??...or something else ??

BTW...I have a Flicker account with some postings...how do I embed a link to Fickr on this forum ??

Cheers

Terry

Re: Attracting Flickr comments...

From my limited flickr comments I think it has a lot to do with the quality of the photo.

Sounds kind of obvious I know but as my photography has improved I've found that I get more comments.

As for tagging it helps because it enables more people to see your photos and more likelihood of someone leaving a comment.

If you want to link to your flickr in your sig for example just insert the url from your photostream as a link.

The AVF flickr group has instructions on how to link your photos when embedding them on here.

Re: Attracting Flickr comments...

Join and post to some groups (try AVF for one) and add comments on others. Don't get too uptight though at any lack of comment, as you've seen some groups seem to comment for comments sake, not AVF I hasten to add!

Thats the way, you may want to put your link into your signature to save typing it out on every post.

Nice pics in your Flickr too.

Re: Attracting Flickr comments...

I would suggest you read that silly thread about pimping your image. That undoubtedly will get comments coming.

Another longer term thing is to join groups on subjects you like and that you take images of. Then go throgh the pool and comment on and tag images as fav's that you like. Also I'd suggest going to the artists profile page for those images and adding the person as a contact. You may find that if your images are decent you get reciprocal contacts. Every morning with my coffee before work I look at my contacts new images and if I get a chance or am moved I post comments. I suspect that many of the comments on my images are from contacts or folk seeing images in my groups.

oh and you can also look at yoru contacts favourites to quickly find even more images you might like...it's all very incestuous....

Gordon

P.S. If that fails I agree with the naked women comment
