Thanks: Gave 24, Got 7 | When is the next Canon cashback offer?
Does anyone have any idea of when Canon might be offering some more cashback? I'm after a 24-105L, but prices have suddenly gone through the roof - I'm looking at nearly £700 at the moment which, frankly, isn't going to happen.
Cheers

I am also looking for that lens at the minute and was on Tottenham Court Road the other day and got talking to what seemed like a genuine trader and camera fan.
He told me to hold off on the 24-105 for a month or two as it is "rumoured" to be having a price drop soon.
He talked about a drop down to the 500 mark.
Take it or leave it as advice, as could be complete codswollop. He actually had them in stock but could not match the price here in Germany, but just advised me against buying at the minute.

Cheers | I realise this isn't the "for sale" section but I'm actually thinking of selling mine. PM me if you like.

P.S I've not sold here before but my ebay rating is 481 - 100% positive |

Last year's promotion offered £35 on the 24-105L
The promotion round this year offered £45 on the 24-105
I know every little helps but don't expect miracles if another cashback round is on the cards

& just a word on the cashback ...if you value your sanity/sleep, don't just send using their freepost mailbox, but send recorded delivery.
I didn't, but immediately after posting I thought "What have I done...I've just sent my till receipt & cashback claim with no way of tracing whether it's arrived". what if it goes missing...how will I stand wrt gurantee, how can I make another claim blah blah.
Worse still, there seems to be no way of contacting anyone at Canon's end to follow it up!
Two days ago ...after 7 long weeks my cheque arrived with its original till receipt.

I'm just speculating here (and could be completely wrong) but around the time I bought my 24-105, which was 18 months ago I discovered that some of the best deals available were for lenses that had been sold to dealers as part of a 5D kit and then split off & sold seperately (typically in white boxes). The same lens will partner the forthcoming 5D MkII and I'd hazard a guess that more buyers of that camera will want a body rather than a kit - so if retailers are buying and splitting kits to prop up their fairly slim margins, you might expect to see a bit of a glut of lenses with a resultant drop in market prices. Maybe .
On the other hand of course if GBP sinks much lower any saving could be eroded anyway...

Yes, you could see mroe of these becoming available - or 5Dii buyers will just buy the body only.
I have a 24-105L (not for sale), and am actually considering whether to buy a 5Dii with 24-105L lens pack, as these are easier to come by and are better value for money. In this case I too would have a brand new one to sell as i don't need two of these lenses.

Well, looks like I will have a new 24-105L to sell after all, as I ordered the 5D Mk2 lens kit pack yesterday |
