First Studio Shoot

As part of the Cambridge Camera Club (Portrait Group) I had a chance last night to get some practice in a studio.

Steep learning curve or what made twice as difficult given this was the first time I was shooting using an external flash.

Good to be challenged though, especially as portrait photography is something I'd like to do more of - jury is till out on whether or not full blown studio stuff is for me !

I think one of the biggest challenges, especially as we were not working with professional models, is building up a rapport with the model and getting them into the shots that not only you want to get but work well for that particular individual.

Hoping to PP some shots later today and will post them later.

Hats off to those studio photographers - that's a tough gig !

Nige

What sort of kit did you use? & how much was the session (and what was included?)

cheers,

N

Not too sure on the lighting kit - still chasing this up, but I was using a Canon 40D along with a 24-105L and a 50mm lens.

As for cost - it was free, part of being a member of the Cambridge Camera Club, but I've been told when available the hall and kit is available for hire for £6.50 per hour. I'm defo going to take them up on this offer at some point.
