Nikon D60 18-55mm lens - VR or not?

Hi all....hopefully you guys can give me some advice. I'm looking to purchase the Nikon D60 with the 18-55mm lens. If I go for this option, is it worth getting the VR version of the lens, or just the standard one?

The VR is about £50 dearer than the standard, and at the moment I have to watch the budget. I'll be purchasing the 55-200mm lens as well, and will definately go for the VR version of this one, but I'm just wondering whether it's worth it on the 18-55mm??

Thanks,

Clive

If you look at Camerapricebuster the difference is less than £50. Personally I would get it with VR.

Actually the difference is £25 (£300 vs £325), which is a total no-brainer. Go for the VR

VR at the wide end allows static shooting indoors (museums, churches etc) at ridiculously low shutter speeds. I've got away with 1/2 second handheld at 18mm.

I recently was taking photos in a small church near where I live and really wished that I had VR on my 18-70 as I needed to use very slow shutter speeds. If you can afford it then I really would get the VR version - it's not something you 'need' but there are times when it really comes into it's own and you'll kick yourself for not spending the extra few quid on it.

Hi guys..thanks for all the replies. It seems that the consensus of opinion is that I should go for VR

So be it...I'm gonna make the purchase over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks again, and cheers for now.
