Ok, so the weather has been terrible...but it does mean that any waterfalls will be that their best doesn't it ?
That was my thinking today as I headed to find the Loup o' Fintry which I'd been told was an impressive waterfall at the best of times. Seemed a shame not to go as it's only 10 miles away so off I went on my first dedicated outing (by that I mean minus kids, wife and dog).
I learned a few valuable lessons in the process:
Wrap up warmer than you think you'll need...after 1hr I was pretty cold.
Add a lens cloth to my kit bag...seems obvious but I am just learning !
Take a friend...after finding myself in some precarious positions, on damp rocks, next to a raging waterfall, with no mobile phone signal.
Anyway, on to the pictures.....these are my favourites....the
full set is on flickr. Every pic I took could be improved, even I can see that, but your comments and criticisms are most welcome.
(1) An HDR picture merged with a slow shutter picture...probably my favourite
(2) My attempt at being 'artistic'...
(3) I like this one but it is spoilt by water drops on lens (a constant issue today)
(4) Another HDR effort
(5)
All in all I enjoyed my mornings photography and have plans to return when the falls return to normal. I could see some good spots to setup which required crossing the river, a big no-no today. Less water might also mean less spray/water droplets which was my biggest issue.
I hope you enjoy the pics.
